Cure for the Common “Can” Light
I moved into a new home last May. The one area that I was least impressed with was the lighting of the home. In my kitchen, I had a few area of lighting that just were not doing the rest of the house lighting. I loved recessed lighting fixtures, but mine looked dull and boring. I came across something known as Softlites and I was super excited to try them!
Here is what my lighting looked like BEFORE:
About Softlites
Softlites creator, Mitchell Teller, is an award winning Director/Cinematographer of “Fashion and Beauty” TV Commercials who, in order to aesthetically illuminate interior locations, created a prototype diffusor which clipped on to existing recessed ceiling “can” lights…. thereby softening the otherwise harsh light. When crew members started asking to take the prototypes home with them, he knew that he had created a useful solution for a widespread problem.
My Thoughts
Here is a picture AFTER we installed Softlites!
The final product? They look awesome! I love the way they make my kitchen brighter. I also enjoy how inexpensive it was to make my home look that much classier. There are also several different Softlite options, so you can choose the one that looks best for your decor.
I had a hard time installing these. It may be because I’m short. I loved the final product, but the install was not as easy as I’d hoped. That’s okay though because I love the product and think it was worth the time I spent installing it. I loved the Softlites they sent me and the look of them. I think they really did help finish the look on my kitchen.
I think it’s easy to appreciate Softlites because it’s a nice way to cover up nasty lights. I redid my whole kitchen and at the end of the day, the lights were what was bothering me. These covers give my lights a nice clean look and I can’t help but appreciate them.
Now when I take a picture of my kitchen or when my guests come over, it can all look complete. At the end of the day and for a small price, it’s nice seeing what something like Softlites can do!
I encourage you to get a few Softlites for your own recessed lighting. It will truly change the way you look at the lighting in your home.
