Have you ever wondered what your kids look for in a new car? Or even better, what they would add if they were the ones to design it? My husband was curious about this the other day so he assigned the kids a short school project. Together they made a list of must-haves with our teens. They, of course, started with safety, fuel mileage, room and practicality of the vehicle — and then it went off into another area of thought altogether. In my head I was thinking that this would be one crazy looking car if everyone got what was on their wish list; it was something out of a cartoon and the littles weren’t even involved yet! So we asked them too!
When a young child’s imagination gets to running you never know what is going to be said next. It is truly fun to watch them be creative. After about thirty minutes my kids were finished explaining their car ideas and I wasn’t sure if our future vehicle was going to be a rocketship, RV, or what… exactly. My young son asked for things like a pizza maker, large TV, computer, a place to put all of his toys. Then said it should look like a super hero costume and fly in the sky fast. The bonus was the bathroom.
My girls had completely different ideas too. They said it should be pink with glitter. Each wanted a place to do their makeup, but my preschooler specifically asked for a way to play with her dollhouse.
Did these kids design a car or a house? I’m still unsure. I just had to smile and laugh. Wouldn’t the interstate ride be more interesting if you were cooking at your play kitchen, in your pink glitter car, while being passed by a super hero rocket ship car with pizza oven smoking out of the top? Just imagine! I think I need to send this out to Toyota ASAP!
