Promoting Fair Trade
With a focus of providing quality handmade bracelets, Sashka Co. also promotes fair trade to encourage gender equality and empowering women. They offer a fair price for each bracelet allowing the artisans to earn more than Nepal’s minimum wage.
About the Sashka Co. Bracelets
Each bracelet may vary in color slightly as each bracelet is handmade. The finest glass beads are imported to Nepal from Japan and the Czech Republic to make the bracelets. Bracelets are made of 100% cotton string, glass beads, and sterling silver beads.
Since bracelets are made of 100% cotton thread, bracelets are not elastic. Therefore, rolling the bracelet over the hand onto the wrist is required. Just gently roll the bead over your hand evenly until it reaches the desired location on the wrist. There, it will stay perfectly in place without being too tight. Watch a video HERE to see how to properly roll the bracelet onto your wrist.
Each bracelet has a lifetime warranty. If it breaks, simply send it back and they will replace it!
My Thoughts
I love the fun colors. At first, I was not sure what my thoughts were on the fact that the bracelets were not elastic but after wearing them, I actually like that better. I have a three-year-old who likes to play with my jewelry while I am wearing it. Since the bracelets are not elastic, she can’t break them like she does the elastic ones that she stretches too much while playing. I also do not have to worry about them stretching out where they don’t fit.
I have gone to the very poor parts of Costa Rica. There, I enjoyed shopping the local artist’s shops. I love the fact that they are handmade. I LOVE handmade stuff! To know that not only is it handmade but it is handmade from another country AND helps keep people from living in poverty. It brought back great memories of shopping in Costa Rica. I have never been to Nepal but because of my experience in Costa Rica, I can picture the type of people I am helping by supporting Sashka Co.
