Easy Reindeer Peanut Butter Cookies
Ingredients:
1 ¾ cups all purpose flour
½ cup sugar
½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup shortening
½ cup peanut butter
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
Sugar (for rolling)
M&M’s – red and brown
Mini Pretzels
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, shortening, peanut butter, milk, vanilla and egg.
Mix well, either with paddle mixer or by hand, but just until mixed. Do not over mix.
Roll pieces of dough (approximately a scoop of 1 tablespoon) into balls.
Flatten by hand and then pinch at the bottom to form nose.
In a shallow bowl, add sugar and coat the cookie dough on both sides with the sugar by placing and pressing slightly.
Place on a cookie sheet.
Add brown M&M’s for yes and red for the nose. Break the bottom off of a mini pretzel and add to the top of the cookie dough by lightly pressing into dough.
Bake 8-10 minutes, watching carefully for oven differences.
Remove from oven when cookies are slightly golden brown. If pretzels fall while baking, gently adjust before they have time to cool.
Let the cookies cool for just a few minutes and transfer to cooling rack.
NOTE: For those with a peanut allergy, you can leave out the peanut butter and still enjoy the recipe!
Enjoy!
