The K’NEX STEM Explorations Swing Ride Building Set is designed to encourage STEM learning in children. STEM is a curriculum that focuses on science, technology, engineering, and math.
About K’NEX
K’NEX is a construction toy system that was created in 1992 by Joel Glickman. Today, they are designed and produced by K’NEX Industries, headquartered in Hatfield, Pennsylvania. K’NEX toys all conform to what is called ASTM F963, a standard of toy safety that ensure K’NEX toys do not contain designs or materials that may be harmful to children. This standard is set by the American Society for Testing and Materials.
This K’NEX project allows kids to build a working swing ride like you see at carnivals and fairs. In addition, children can build 2 additional rides: a Ferris wheel and a boom ride.
Step by step instructions are provided so kids can easily create a functional working swing ride with ease. Children can work on the projects alone or with a team of two to three other kids, which teaches the children all about teamwork.
The building set comes complete with over 470 colorful pieces including a battery-powered motor, gears, connectors, and rods. It is designed for children ages 8 and up.
When the model is built, seeing the child’s face light up is priceless! My children always enjoy building with K’NEX. Their building sets take on life with motion and versatility.
