Have you ever wanted to get your child involved with computer programming or robotics but didn’t know where to start? This is where I was with my oldest teen. He is my “computer genius” who knows several programming languages and can repair almost any computer we’ve brought to him. I recently sent him on an afternoon visit to learn about Robotics at a nearby college. There, he realized was this whole other world of technology that he hasn’t learned yet. He was inspired, but I had no idea what to do next. This is when I needed SAM Labs the most!

SAM Labs creates wireless electronics kits that allow users to build their own smart inventions using hardware, software and apps through the Internet of Things (IoT). These tiny blocks (shown below) are what children/creators need give life to their inventions. If your child has an idea for giving the family cat entertainment while sitting on the couch — SAM may be what he/she needs to make it happen!
Armed with a SAM kit, a child learns even the most advanced coding concepts swiftly through the power of play. The combined design and educational element of the SAM Cars, SAM Robots, SAM Weather Stations, SAM Alarms, SAM Drum machines made the kits fly off the shelves and depleted the Conran shop and Science Museum Shop inventory over Christmas.
SAM Labs was founded in April 2014 by a group of graduates from Imperial College London led by Joachim Horn, Founder and CEO.
You’d be surprised what a child learns, when they don’t realize that they are learning. We are determined to give everyone a joyful and hands-on experience with creative engineering and coding. Any child at home or in school can pick up these kits and play, while learning twice as fast as conventional tools. ~ Joachim Horn
Be inspired by the SAM community!
The following video was awarded Project of the month! The Lego IP Camera, by Philip Verbeek, uses a clever combination of motors, LEGO, and custom code to get just the right level of control! Watch to see just how he used SAM and the SAM Internet of Things (IoT) app for his project.
Are you looking to take your child to the next step of technology?
Get started with the Inventor Kit. London’s Science Museum and SAM Labs collaborated to create the Inventor kit which teaches STEM through step-by-step activities. The SAM Labs kits are play and curriculum inspired, to prepare next generations to lead in technology.
Inspire your child by providing them with the proper tools for greatness!
