When I was a child, my favorite day of month was when we would have fluffy dinner rolls with lunch at school. I kept a small package of chocolate candy in my bag just to use on days when we were served the rolls — it was my favorite thing. The day they were served, I would take these fluffy warm(ish) rolls and stick pieces of chocolate in the center, wait a moment for the chocolate to melt, and then eat them. They were perfection.
Last month I was sent a package of Bauli Croissants and as I ate my first one I instantly had a flash of familiarity. I remembered the rolls and chocolate. It was my childhood creation all grown up in these fluffy and sweet croissants.
The Bauli Authentic Italian Croissants are so delicious, I pondered the idea of not sharing any with my children. On my own I was enjoying them with coffee or tea, did I really need to share? Of course, I eventually gave in and allowed the kids to give them a try too. One of my little guys couldn’t get enough. He was a happy boy after he had his own Bauli Croissant.
After I moved past my initial enjoyment I started researching how Bauli makes their croissants and was really intrigued by the process. Their “mother dough” is left to rise for 18 hours before the croissants are baked. This allows Bauli to prepare long-lasting croissants without adding preservatives.
Like Bauli’s holiday Pandoro and Panettone, the Bauli croissants are made using a “mother dough.” Water and flour are progressively added to this nucleus to create a croissant dough with natural yeast instead of chemical additives, allowing it to rise naturally.
After 18 hours of natural leavening, the croissants are soft and flavorful with a delicious aroma.
They also stay fresh for much longer than most bread or cakes, without any added preservatives.
My family tried thee Croissant varieties from Bauli’s Italian Everyday Snacks line: Chocolate Flavor, Vanilla Custard, and Cherry Jelly. We loved all three so much, that I cannot recommend one over the other. Thus, if you plan to serve Bauli’s Croissants before guests, I recommend serving a variety of the three flavors.

Wait! Before you go! Do you like tea?
Nothing goes better with Bauli Authentic Italian snacks than a great cup of coffee or tea!
My teen daughter is a big hot tea lover and she was thrilled to help me review the Krups Tea Kettle! Her favorite feature was that this kettle can be used with bagged or loose tea leaves. That is very important because she doesn’t always have loose tea available, but when she does she wants a better method than steeping the leaves herself.
How does it work?
Add tea to the basket, water within the pot, and turn it on! The Krups Tea Kettle circulates the water via an internal water circulation system. Water is brought up through a straw-like tube, released into the tea chamber basket, and allowed to disburse back into the pot. Each cup of tea poured has been perfect every time.
Traditional loose-tea brewing takes a contemporary turn with the Krups Personal Tea Kettle. The electric kettle lets you brew up to a liter at a time, with water circulating through a tube to the tea chamber for optimal infusion and flavor. Model FL702850.
