Review Post written by Mark, the coffee drinker in our home!
Like many people, there’s nothing I love more than a good, hot cup of coffee first thing in the morning! So you can imagine my excitement when I was asked to review Remington’s new iCoffee Opus. I have never owned a single serve brewer that uses the K-cups before, so I was curious to see how this brewer would stack up against my current coffee maker.
i Coffee launches game-changing brewer technology, compatible with Keurig 2.0, that offers dramatically smoother and better -tasting coffee from ANY K-cup©.
What sets the iCoffee brewing system apart from the others is their SpinBrew technology. I have never seen this before but it is quite amazing. Simply put, SpinBrew technology means it has a spinning needle with jets that spin, steams and stirs the coffee inside the K-compatible cups during brewing. After putting it to the test, here are my conclusions.
PROS
►It has a nice design that actually looks pretty neat when it lights up during the brewing process.
►It has a large 75 ounce water reservoir.
►I like how that its removable drip tray has a magnet in it that automatically draws itself into place.
►The box advertises that it brews in less than a minute and I found this to be true. It was much quicker than my current coffee maker.
►The SpinBrew technology produces a smooth cup of coffee and I was amazed at how clean the cup was afterwards. No mess at all! I like the fact that there is no messy filter to throw away.
►It also has a neat feature called “Dial-a-Brew.” You simply turn the dial on the front to the specific number of ounces you want it to make based on the size cup you are using. It can go from 4 to 12 ounces in half ounce increments.
►As soon as it pours one cup, it automatically draws in enough water for the next cup and begins heating it. Before I could finish drinking my first cup, it was ready to start another one.
►It is compatible with every K-cup, so you aren’t stuck having to purchase only their brand cups.
►Since K-cups can get expensive, I was glad it also comes with the iCup Reusable which means you can use any brand coffee you like!
►When you select the Energy Saver mode, it will shut the brewer off after two hours.
CONS
To be honest, there are not many cons I can find with this brewer. I like pretty much everything about it. So the only thing I could think of that could be improved upon is I wish the water reservoir had the ounces marked on it so you could see how many ounces of water you had left. That way you could tell about how many more cups you could make before adding water. But since it is a clear reservoir, it is easy to see how much water is left so that is not really a big deal.
If you are looking for a K-cup style brewer, I highly recommend the iCoffee Opus. In fact, I have already boxed up my old coffee maker and put it in storage!
