Over the summer my family hosted a foreign exchange student from China. Since she returned home, the kids have remained in touch online and by sending letters through the mail. When the letters arrive the are excited and hurriedly read through them to see what she says. They lovingly share all of the details with the family, and after a few moments, they re-read the letters to be sure they didn’t overlook anything; I have seen my children pickup their letters and re-read them over and over again for days after they arrive. Because I have seen how excited my children are about receiving personal letters in the mail, I know your children will enjoy Dream Letters.
Dream Letters is the first interactive reading and writing game on paper. A magical, personalized story sent straight to your child’s mailbox — your home mailbox — not their email!
When the envelope arrives addressed to your child they will be overjoyed. Inside, your child will find personalized letters telling them that they have been chosen the new ruler of their new land. Along with this letter they are given a map, crown, stickers and other trinkets to help bring their experience to life.
Within each letter they are given prompts to answer questions or to help create a story within their kingdom. When your child is ready, they are to write letters back to their advisers, ruling the kingdom from afar.
With a Dream Letters subscription, your child will:
- Receive personalized letters in the mailbox,
- Discover and enjoy the pleasure of reading,
- Create their own story at their own rhythm,
- Learn real facts about history, biology, etc.,
- Upgrade their vocabulary level,
- Develop their imagination,
- Write and draw their own responses in a non-judgment state of mind,
- Receive updated letters based on their decisions,
- Develop self-confidence.
Dream Letters is a writing exchange between your child and the characters of a story; in which they are the heroes.
Whichever subscription you choose, the experience is always magical. Your child will receive their first letter, filled with all sorts of surprises and letters from several characters in the story. These characters will describe their world and inform them that they were chosen to play a very important role. Your child is the hero of the story. The characters will ask questions or ask for help solving riddles. Your child will then answer their questions in writing and send their letter by mail. Several days later, a new letter arrives in which the characters tell how they applied the orders of your child and how the situation has evolved. Facing new challenges, they will ask new questions. As so, over the course of a year, your child and the characters of Dream Letters will exchange letters until they have received about thirty different letters in the mail. Your child will receive between 4 and 8 pages to read each time (A4 paper). At the end of a one-year subscription, your child will have read the equivalent of a 250 page book without even knowing it!
Who is writing back?
One of the biggest questions I had about dream letters is who is writing the children back and are the stories truly custom to them. Behind the scene at Dream Letters is a unique technical innovation that makes it all possible: CERIS.
CERIS is the one-of-a-kind software of editorial intelligence allowing the human authors to deal with incredibly rich stories that get even richer with each children’s answer.
The questions, ideas and decisions of each child add new details to the main scenario so that every answer fits perfectly with the general coherence and particularity of each story.
We’ve partnered with teachers and speech therapists to create our innovative software that combines dozens of custom mechanisms (random paragraphs, contextual paragraphs, extra paragraphs, etc.) allowing each letter to be unique and personalized.
CERIS goes further by adapting answers to each child’s abilities to offer a perfect comfort in reading and writing, gradually upgrading as the child’s level rises. Using cutting edge computing technology, our writers play with a wide range of parameters and keep track of each adventure’s distinctive features.
CERIS is a leading software in its field, entirely conceived by our tech-team and has been awarded the “ILab” prize by the French Ministry of Research and Education.
