My children love the library and really enjoy maxing out our card(s) during each trip. Although I have a special shelf set aside for all library books that are not in use to go, we still find ourselves floating somewhere along the “bad library people” line. I am paying hundreds of dollars each year in late and replacement fees and I know I’m not alone!
This week the library of my dreams was opened to me through Epic! Now, I can say goodbye to excessive library late fees and I can start using our library shelf for something else!
- Kids on Epic! can read anytime, anywhere on any device with instant access to over 10,000 high-quality books for kids 12 and under
- Epic! has popular and award-winning books and series available to read including: Ramona, Big Nate, Flat Stanley, National Geographic, Goosebumps, Fancy Nancy, Warriors, The Chronicles of Narnia, Where the Wild Things Are and many more
- Look no further for more than 500 Spanish and bilingual Spanish/English books have been added to our ever growing library last month as the first category of books beyond English
- A wide range of fiction and non-fiction titles in a variety of formats including picture books, early readers, chapter books, Read-to-Me and Audiobooks
Epic! is a new way to have access to all of the BEST books for kids in one place! The setup is very user friendly, and reminds me of the way movies are displayed on that popular at-home movie app. Since the layout is likely something your children are already familiar with, they will find Epic very easy to navigate.
My first day using it my children spent HOURS with Epic!
Baby Girl and I read several Fancy Nancy stories together, Caillou, Disney’s Doc McStuffins, Disney’s The Little Mermaid (Level 2 Reader), a Disney’s Sophia the First storybook, and special Thanksgiving books too (our book list could go on!). I read all of these books to her myself before I noticed some of them offer a “Read to Me” option (not that I don’t enjoy reading aloud to my kids, but when you have marathon reading sessions, your voice begins to appreciate the “read to me” alternative).
Mom Does Reviews Screen Shot – Read to Me Audio Book in Progress at Epic!
Big Guy and I found the “Read to Me” audio books to be really neat, especially with the Twin Sisters Productions books. Sharks!, by Irene Tremble and Illustrated by Mike Maydak, was really neat to hear through the Twin Sisters Productions read aloud. It was very animated and engaging. My son enjoyed it so much that at midnight last night he was begging to be read to with Epic! … of course, I couldn’t refuse. We fell asleep cuddling together with a Read to Me book about spiders.
Multiple Platforms at NO Additional Cost!
Epic! Is available to be used online, with android, or Apple devices with one linked account and no additional fee!
Do we have a preference? When I am reading with the kids on Epic! I prefer to use my laptop because the screen is bigger, I don’t need to hold it, and it allows me to have more than two children huddled with me. My children like the independence of being able to use Epic! on their tablet, iPad, and on my phone.
The great surprise was that I didn’t initially download it onto my son’s iPad Mini, but after he used it with me, he requested I download it for him. (If you only knew how hard it is for me to get him to use educational apps – Ha! I was thrilled!)
Signing up for Epic! Is very easy — they are even offering a free two months to our Mom Does Reviews readers (see details below). I signed up online, created our profiles, and helped customize each child’s profile by choosing from a lists of their interests.
Next we downloaded the app on our other devices. After a quick, one time, login the kids were able to choose their profiles and get started READING on their own!
The most spoken phrase in my house right now is
“Read stories with me, Mommy!”
