When we started homeschooling, one of the biggest tasks I took on was trying to turn family read aloud books into unit studies. For a month, I would turn a book into the main focus of our learning. We would have themed meals, field trips, and entire lesson plans with the book as the center of our attention.
This was a LOT of work!
It WAS a lot of work! It required that I read the book in advance of the children, research, buy supplement books, find appropriate “web field trips” and online games, develop plans, purchase supplies….there was a lot to this.
Here I am, watching Imaginary Friends’ information video and I am completely shocked. They have created a book box that does the hard work for you! Their box takes a book, breaks it up into separate/smaller book chapters, creates meals, lessons, fun family activities and all you have to do is ride the wind a few steps ahead of your kids!
Imaginary Friends makes this so easy!
“Each Imaginary Friends book takes the kids on an exciting adventure. But the characters can’t do it alone. In a simple, easy-to-use platform you get to help the story progress. The books arrive at your door as an adventure kit with each chapter separately bound and everything you need to create an amazing interactive experience inside. As your child begins reading, you’ll go online to start the behind-the-scenes magic that will immerse the whole family into the story.”
When you read a book to your children, are you 100% sure they are listening to you? Do they remember the book a month later? When you read a story as a family and incorporate that story into other areas of your life through play, your child remembers the story – months and years later – because they built memories with that book. They built memories with you!
Imaginary Friends is a simple new platform that brings reading, games and real-life activities together in a fun way. Each Adventure Kit comes with:
A printed book aimed at 8-12 year old reading level, divided into 7-10 chapters
An activity you can hide in the real world like puzzles or secret notes
A digital-connected game or video for EVERY chapter!
Extra ideas so parents can enhance the adventure (optional to the story)
I already know my homeschooling friends are on the edge of their seat going “Where do I get this”, but please don’t limit this experience to just teachers and home educators. This is for any family! One book from Imaginary Friends can be completed in a day, a weekend, a week, or two weeks. It depends on how quickly your family chooses to move through each book/chapter. Imaginary Friends tells us that many children are so enthralled with the program they request to complete everything in a single day or weekend. Can you imagine how much fun that weekend would be?
Imaginary Friends has TEN days left to go on their Kickstarter Campaign. To boost awareness and understanding, they are offering a FREE sample of their first book, Capes in the Family by Gregg Taylor and Remie Geoffroi. The sample kit includes the first two chapters with a scavenger hunt in between. Visit their blog HERE to learn more about this FREE downloadable offer.
